UK-India Summit announces picoChip technology to power Rancore's 4G basestations
At the UK-India Government Summit in Delhi today, in the presence of
government ministers from both countries, Vince Cable, the UK Business
Secretary announced that Rancore Technologies Ltd has selected
picoChip's wireless baseband technology for the development of 4G
basestations for rollout in India's next-generation networks.
Business Secretary Dr. Vince Cable said: "Doing business in India is not just for the multinationals. I'm very pleased that a firm like picoChip has won this significant contract that will help improve communications in India, one of the fastest-growing markets for telecommunications in the world. I wish the company every success."
“It is a privilege to be a part of this market leading and highly significant project,” said Nigel Toon, CEO of picoChip. “4G development is proceeding at an advanced pace in India, one of the world’s most dynamic mobile markets. A number of technological breakthroughs and launches are on the horizon and Rancore is very much at the heart of these exciting developments.”
“The partnership with picoChip brings us significant value in the design and development of 4G basestations.” said P K Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Rancore Technologies. “The processing power and capabilities of the picoArray, combined with picoChip’s expertise and support, have allowed us to meet an accelerated development timeline.”
4G is being deployed to deliver the quality of service and data speed requirements demanded by new wireless broadband applications and services. This technology will deliver broadband to the vast number of people in rural areas across India who are not currently served by fixed-line broadband connections.
picoChip yesterday also announced a sales and distribution agreement with Entuple Technologies Ltd (www.entuple.com) who will represent picoChip throughout India. Entuple has a wide reach in India and has established partnerships with a range of companies focused on the wired and wireless communications market.
Rancore Technologies is a R&D organization specializing in many innovative and upcoming 4G technologies based on new and popular protocols and services for the technology domain. Other specialties include IP Multimedia Service (IMS), Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and a range of 4G applications.
